School Pictures

Not only is Miss Goofy in school, but so is Music Man. Now they are studying drastically different subjects, but they are both in school. Music Man is studying accounting. Miss Goofy seems to be studying "Charmed" reruns. And she's writing a story for schoolwork. She isn't getting a summer vacation this year. Not because she's goofed off, but we took our time off earlier in the year. While the weather was still cold and she wanted to be outside playing. Anyway, here are my two students hard at work.

Music Man

I think the flash may have partially blinded him. Notice the Rolaids in the background. Whoever said school wasn't stressful obviously didn't take hard enough classes.

Miss Goofy got mad at me for not announcing the name of her story in my last post and I almost forgot it this time. Okay truth be told I did forget to post it, but I'm editing this post to say: Drop by around July 7th, that's the Monday after the 4th to read "Barbie Meets Godzilla". An original piece written for her own amusement (and to fulfill a requirement from her mother) by Miss Goofy.

Music Man has corrected me. The flash didn't blind him, he was thinking. Sure, Music Man, go with that story, it sounds much better.

Working Hard

It’s a great feeling to work hard and accomplish something. Miss Goofy is in the middle of a challenge. I think she’s doing well, especially since her mom is so ill-prepared most of the time.

When I was in the fifth grade my teacher was a friend of my grandma’s and one weird day I was actually organized. I clearly remember her commenting how organized I was and how much like Grandma I was. I told Grandma about the comment and she laughed. She laughed hard. Harder than I think she’s ever laughed before. I always wondered about that. Now that I’m homeschooling my daughter I understand. I start the year pretty well organized. And then life happens.

Someone gets sick, or hurt. We have computer problems or just feel lazy or one of a million other reasons. I understand why homeschoolers get a bad reputation. I am the cause of the reputation some days. Other days I am the reason we have a great reputation. And by me, I mean Miss Goofy. That kid knows how to work hard when she wants to. Getting her to want to work, that’s my job. It’s a tough job.

In any event, Miss Goofy is working her hind end off. She’s enjoying watching me scramble to find her something to do while I fix the massive computer problem that is the tracking program I use for her schoolwork. There might be a reason I feel lazy.

Miss Goofy has agreed to have her story upon its completion published on this blog. I hope to have it up just after the 4th of July. I’ll save the title for next time.
