It’s a great feeling to work hard and accomplish something. Miss Goofy is in the middle of a challenge. I think she’s doing well, especially since her mom is so ill-prepared most of the time.
When I was in the fifth grade my teacher was a friend of my grandma’s and one weird day I was actually organized. I clearly remember her commenting how organized I was and how much like Grandma I was. I told Grandma about the comment and she laughed. She laughed hard. Harder than I think she’s ever laughed before. I always wondered about that. Now that I’m homeschooling my daughter I understand. I start the year pretty well organized. And then life happens.
Someone gets sick, or hurt. We have computer problems or just feel lazy or one of a million other reasons. I understand why homeschoolers get a bad reputation. I am the cause of the reputation some days. Other days I am the reason we have a great reputation. And by me, I mean Miss Goofy. That kid knows how to work hard when she wants to. Getting her to want to work, that’s my job. It’s a tough job.
In any event, Miss Goofy is working her hind end off. She’s enjoying watching me scramble to find her something to do while I fix the massive computer problem that is the tracking program I use for her schoolwork. There might be a reason I feel lazy.
Miss Goofy has agreed to have her story upon its completion published on this blog. I hope to have it up just after the 4th of July. I’ll save the title for next time.
